⏰ When do we use Time Expressions?

We use time expressions to say when something happens.

  • In (months, years, parts of day):
    • I wake up early in the morning.
    • She was born in 1995.
  • On (specific days and dates):
    • We have a meeting on Monday.
    • His birthday is on July 5th.
  • At (specific times):
    • I eat breakfast at 7:00 AM.
    • He goes to bed at midnight.
  • Before / After / Early / Late:
    • I brush my teeth before bed.
    • She arrives after lunch.
    • He gets up early every day.
    • They came home late.

We use in for some special expressions like:

Examples:

📌 Structure

  • Affirmative: Subject + verb + time expression
  • Negative: Subject + don’t/doesn’t + verb + time expression
  • Question: When + do/does + subject + verb?
